Onondaga Community College (OCC) and YMCA officials met recently to discuss parking for Southwest Y members during large events on campus.
We understand the availability of parking during large events at the SRC Arena and Events Center and Allyn Hall Gym have brought a level of frustration for some members. After evaluation of our shared parking situation, the college and the YMCA have worked out a solution to relocate Y member parking to adjacent lots during larger events. The main OCC/SRC Arena parking lot (Lot 13) is an open public lot during all events, as are all the parking lots on campus, and therefore, cannot be OCC enforced. There are several adjacent lots to the Arena and Allyn Hall that are easily accessible. For larger events at the college, Lots 6 and 7 (or another adjacent lot) will be reserved for Y members. We will communicate parking changes prior to large events using direct email, Facebook, phone greeting, and website. If you are not receiving Y emails currently, please share your email address with us so we can ensure you receive notifications.
