Pickleball at the Y
At the YMCA of Central New York, we’re rising to the challenge of providing our members with the opportunity to learn and play pickleball!
Pickleball is:
- Easy to learn and play
- Great exercise
- Inexpensive
- A ton of fun
Pickleball culture is:
- Welcoming to new players
- Social
- Inclusive
- Makes it easy to find others to play with, anywhere you go
For all these reasons, Pickleball is America’s Fastest Growing Sport!
How to Get Involved:
“Open Play” is offered at all six Y locations for active YMCA Members. If you’re a newcomer to pickleball, you can expect to find a community of friends who will help you get started.

- The Southwest Branch changes monthly. Check the schedule here. No sign up required.
- Show up at the appointed time. Bring a paddle if you have one, or ask for a loaner paddle upon checking in at the Y front desk. Balls are provided.
- If you’re new, ask for someone to explain the protocol used for play, and to help you get started playing if needed.
Become a Master at the Manlius Y
It’s often said that Pickleball is “easy to learn and difficult to master.” The Manlius YMCA, offers a comprehensive pickleball program that will put you on the road to mastery for YMCA Members and Non-Members.
Looking to play in organized round robins or leagues? Or want to learn to play with the guidance of a teaching professional?
Our coaching team is PPR Certified (Professional Pickleball Registry) and uses state-of-the-art coaching methods to help you learn or improve your game. All programs are held on four indoor pickleball courts located on tennis court #1.
How do I find a Pickleball Program for me?
- Pickleball 101, weekly clinics, or lessons are ideal ways to learn the strokes, strategies, and rules of pickleball in a systematic way.
- Weekly Pickleball Clinics allow you to learn at your own pace. Note that each clinic has a recommended playing level to ensure you’re in the right group.
- Round Robins are for players who are already familiar with the game. Numbers are limited and rotations will be organized by one of our teaching staff.
- Join a League: Play every week with a regular group.
- Private or small group lessons are tailored to you or your group’s needs.
