Micron Technology, Inc. announced today an initial $500,000 investment in the YMCA of Central New York to help expand access to high-quality child care and early learning for underserved communities in the region.
The company, which is building a new factory complex in the Town of Clay, will also continue to partner with our Y and fellow organizations to identify future investments “that support and empower children and families and build an equitable and inclusive community for all.”
"We want to thank Micron Technology’s Leadership team in their willingness to support the YMCA of Central New York’s efforts! We are looking forward to building our collaborative partnership with the Micron team to impact our community further," said Bertram L. Lawson II, President & CEO of the YMCA of Central New York. "Micron's investment in the Y is an investment in all of the children, seniors, and families of our Central New York region."
The YMCA of Central New York is the leading provider of child care locally through early childhood and school-age childcare programs, including full-day daycare, preschool, universal pre-k, before and afterschool programming, and child watch programs, as well as a variety of summer day camp programs throughout the county. Programs at the Y meet or exceed State of New York licensing standards and we are also accredited by Praesidium to meet the highest standards of abuse prevention.
